0.6 update notes
Update 0.6 has arrived \( ._.)/
The main focus of this update is the new Passive Ability feature, alongside which also came some balancing, improvements and bug fixes. One of the balance changes is the tank stats re-evaluation, some stats are either too cheap or too expensive to invest in, and with these adjustments, some existing Active Abilities also have to be rebalanced.
Without further ado, let's get into the notes...
New feature: Passive Abilities
A completely new kind of ability adding another layer to your catastrophe! As the name implies, Passive Abilities will passively trigger as you perform your usual battle actions, either acting as an extension for the Active Ability, improving survivability or enhancing offensive capability. This update brings 6 of them, of course more will be added in the future:
- Quick Repair: Sustain without any Repair Rate
- Ferocity: Going all-in with your Active Ability
- Last Stand: Cannot die easily
- Snowball: The more damage you do, the more damage you do
- Antifragile: What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
- Shatter: Field of pain (for your opponents)
Core gameplay changes
- Maximum possible Armor 90 -> 80
- Maximum possible Resistance 90 -> 80
Maximum Armor and Resistance of 90 is too high, literally render some builds almost immortal so yeah, a little nerf for them.
Tank configuration adjustments
- Tank Stats config: Max Power score 200 -> 150
- Damage config:
- Value per Power score 2 -> 10
- Max value 150 -> 200
- Health config: Value per Power score 0.5 -> 1
- Speed config:
- Min value 35 -> 30
- Max value 90 -> 80
- Piercing config: Max value 80 -> 100
- Repair Rate config: Value per Power score 0.25 -> 0.2
- Resistance config: Max value 90 -> 80
A little re-evaluation to make sure the power of the stats are consistent. 2% Damage for 1 Power score is quite expensive considering heavy defense and recovery can be easily accessed by most tanks. The same goes for other stats that have their value per Power score changed.
Due to this, most of the abilities will have to be rebalanced to match the value of these stats.
Balancing changes
Buffs:
- Compressed Energy: Slowing effect applies to everyone -> Only applies to opponents
Nerfs:
- Phantom Sprint: Speed bonus 30% -> 20%
- TNTank:
- Speed bonus 35% -> 30%
- Damage 8 -> 6
- Self-damage 2 %HP/s -> Instant 10% HP at the end of the ability
- Reanimator: Reanimation mode Repair Rate gained 5 -> 4
- Acid Factory's acid pools:
- Damage 12 %HP/s -> 10 %HP/s
- The damage can now be blocked by tanks' Armor
- Reduced the size of 2 pools on the left side of the map
Other adjustments
- Speed configuration's display value will appear 10 times larger so it'll look nicer, actual speed is not affected
- Added more info about abilities on the ability configuration screen (like cooldown, AoE radius etc.)
- Phantom Sprint now gives the tank a flash effect on activation
- AoEs from abilities now has a colored element to indicate who they belong to (yours will be green, teammate's blue, and opponent's red)
- Tanks will do a flash effect on spawn/respawn
- Walls now have a new look!
- Projectile hitting sfx system improved:
- Hitting walls will actually play sounds now
- Different weapon models will have the ability to have different hitting sfx
- Added a "Reduce Particles" setting option that will reduce particles spawn rate which could help with lags if you're experiencing some
Bug fixes
- Phantom Sprint will now properly remove the slowing effect from walls
- Fix a bug where dying inside a wall gives the tank extra speed on respawn
That's all for this update, for the next update I'll be focusing on improving and adding more to the gameplay aspect as there is not much to test your creation on at the moment. Until then, hope you'll enjoy the game!
